About Us
We met in an MBA classroom. Ranashree and Shipra, two people who looked like they had nothing in common, and clicked anyway.
Our batchmates started calling us S-R, Stimulus and Response. One of us would throw out an idea and the other would catch it before it hit the ground. We never really explained it. We just liked that it was ours.
Then life did what life does. Careers, cities, countries, marriages, children. Twenty-three years went by. Continents changed. Almost everything changed.
When we finally reunited in Dubai, over two decades later in April 2025, we braced ourselves for the awkward small talk of two decades apart. It lasted about a minute. Same stimulus, same response.
One evening over chai, the conversation drifted where it usually does between Indian women living abroad: ethnic wear, fusion wear, and everything that felt missing from it here. Somewhere in the middle of that, the idea showed up on its own.
We both grew up surrounded by women who taught us that self-love comes before everything else. Same roots, same values, same instincts. Building something together felt less like a decision and more like the obvious next step.
The name found us. Ayana, in Sanskrit, means beautiful flower, an eternal blossom, the whole journey from bud to full bloom. Souq is Arabic for marketplace, alive and full of colour and stories, the way old Dubai still is. Ayana Souq is a marketplace for a woman in blossoming. It holds our story, and a promise to yours.
Comfort, grace and clothes you can actually live in.
That is the whole idea.Twenty-three years in the making. Some bonds are just meant to happen.
